TINEG, Abra (PIA) – Women in the far-flung barangay in the town of Tineg in Abra now have an additional source of income with the inauguration and turn-over of a Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) project under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the local government unit.

Members of the Progreso ti Alaoa Association recently received their rice retail and WiFi vending machine, popularly known as Pisonet, a livelihood project worth P270,000.

The turnover of the livelihood package led by Tineg Mayor Brethen Jireeh Crisologo and SLP DSWD provincial coordinator Victoria Llanes benefits at least 18 members of the community. Beneficiaries include eight Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino members, and ten individuals listed under the Listahanan of poor families.

Crisologo expressed gratitude to the DSWD for opening additional livelihood opportunities, especially for women in the barangay.

Agtultuloy kuma ti panagtitinulong ti umili iti Barangay Alaoa kangrunaana dagiti babai tapno masustenar daytoy a proyekto nga mangtulong iti tunggal maysa,” he emphasized.

[May the residents of Barangay Alaoa, especially the women, continue to cooperate with each other so that the project will be sustained for the benefit of everyone.]

He added that the development of the community through the Progreso ti Alaoa Association contributes to the improvement of the municipality as a whole.

The SLP is a DSWD program that provides livelihood assistance to communities to improve their socio-economic status. It highlights convergence among different government offices, including the community. (JJPM-PIA Abra)
