To fully equip the staff and health professionals assigned to operate and manage the facility, the department recently conducted a three-day seminar to improve the quality of care and services provided to the elderlies.
About 24 healthcare service providers composed of six doctors and 18 nurses were trained to ensure that services provided at the daycare center are aligned to the Universal Health Care Act primarily in addressing health needs of older individuals.
Sharie de Yro, president of the Office of the Senior Citizen’s Affairs (OSCA) here, lauded the project as it provides an opportunity for senior citizens to get out of their houses and receive both mental and social stimulation, as well as the continuing care they need.
“By breaking free from isolation and gaining access to enriching experiences, we, seniors, can enjoy a more vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle,” de Yro said.
The OSCA president said that with the establishment of the center, families and caregivers can also have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are in a safe and enriching environment during the day, while they attend to their own responsibilities or simply take a break.
The health and wellness center operates from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm located at the Regional Government Center in this city. For inquiries about this initiative, call DOH Region 2 hotline at 0917-511-5463. (ALM/GVB/PIA-2)
