QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is now an accredited Konsulta Package Provider (KPP) under the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) Program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

This is following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the MMDA and PhilHealth on Monday, April 15, signifying their mutual regard for the advancement of universal healthcare in the country.

Under the said MOA, MMDA will primarily aid in the dissemination of timely information about the services and healthcare benefits of PhilHealth through their digital and non-digital advertising platforms.

This initiative is seen as beneficial in complementing the efforts of the state health insurer in increasing the accessibility of its health insurance benefits packages to help more Filipinos meet their healthcare needs.

“We are committed to support and promote the social health insurance and PhilHealth’s program for the benefit of the Filipino people, particularly in information dissemination,” said MMDA Acting Chairperson Atty. Don Artes.

For its part, PhilHealth is expected to lead the conduct of information dissemination activities such as orientation seminars for MMDA employees and beneficiaries of other partner agencies during interagency events.

Meanwhile, through this partnership, the personnel of MMDA alongside their dependents will be provided with equitable access to primary care services such as health risk screening and assessment, consultations, diagnostic and laboratory tests (chest X-rays, fasting blood sugar test, and electrocardiograms), as well as selected drugs and medicines for certain conditions including asthma, diabetes, and hypertension.

“We aim to enhance access to quality healthcare services for all, especially in the dynamic landscape of the National Capital Region. By synergizing our efforts, we can better address our communities' evolving healthcare needs and contribute to our nation's overall health and resilience,” said PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Ledesma Jr.

MMDA is the first non-uniformed government agency to be accredited by the PhilHealth as a KPP in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In 2023, MMDA and PhilHealth-NCR first partnered for the implementation of the Konsulta Program in the MMDA Medical Clinic. This is to facilitate the availment of primary outpatient services for its personnel. (MMDA/PIA-NCR)
