DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) -- In a concerted effort to promote sustainable farming practices, the agricultural community of the Ilocos Region is poised to convene for the Learning Sites for Agriculture and Extension Service Providers (LSA/ESP) Summit scheduled on April 29 to 30.

Organized by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1), the summit is themed "Opportunities for Nurturing and Enhancing (ONE) LSAS/ESPs towards Sustainable Agriculture" and will take place at the center’s convention hall in Sta. Barbara town.

Vice President Sara Duterte is expected to grace the program as the guest of honor and speaker.

Jayvee Bryan Carillo, officer-in-charge center director of ATI-RTC 1, emphasized that the summit, expected to be attended by 128 LSAs and nine ESPs, aims to strengthen the federation of these vital stakeholders. He highlighted their crucial role in addressing the agriculture and fisheries extension needs of provinces in the region.

“The ultimate objective of the activity is to bolster the federation of these LSAS and ESPs that serve as vital partners in catering to the agriculture and fisheries extension needs in the region,” Carillo explained.

He further elaborated that this year's theme embodies the Federation's mission of strengthening its membership and its commitment to supporting the development goal of sustainable agriculture towards achieving food security for all.

Over the course of two days, delegates will engage in a series of networking events presenting best practices aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. Carillo added the summit would provide a platform for LSAs and ESPs to explore new opportunities and address pressing challenges facing the agricultural sector. (JCR/MJTAB/EMSA/PIA Pangasinan)
