PAGCOR invites photographers to join photo contest

DAVAO CITY (PIA) --The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is inviting amateur and professional photographers to join the 2024 PAGCOR Photography Contest.

This year’s theme, “Harvest Time,” is meant to showcase the Filipino’s strength of character, patience, and hard work in the fields, which are often rewarded with bountiful harvests and more fulfilling lives.

According to Francisco Villanueva, senior customer relations officer at PAGCOR, the contest is open to professional, amateur, enthusiast, and hobbyist photographers.

“They can use, in the conventional category, the usual cameras, then mobile phones and drones. Previously, we only accepted conventional cameras and mobile phones. Now we have drone shots, photos taken from drones,” Villanueva said.

Filipinos aged at least 16 years old (by January 2024) can join the contest. The conventional category will have eight grand winners, with each receiving P100,000 cash prize. In the mobile/drone category, they will choose 16 winners and each will receive P50,000.

A cash prize of P35,000 each will be given to the eight consolation prize winners in the conventional category, and for mobile/drone photo category, the consolation prize of P20,000 will be given to 16 winners.

Each category will have a people’s choice award, which will have a prize of P10,000.

Villanueva said that in the PAGCOR Photo Contest 2023, two photographers from Mindanao (one from Davao City and one from Cagayan de Oro) were among the winners. Last year’s photo contest featured several tourism destinations across the country as it embraced the theme “Where to Next?”

Baka isa sa inyo sa Davao mapili just last year, so I hope you can join,” Villanueva said.
