PSA opens Philsys registration to children in Oriental Mindoro

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office has officially opened the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration to Filipino children ages one to four years old to ensure an exclusive, secure and sustainable identification system, likewise aiming to register children below five years old.

In a press conference recently held at the PSA provincial office in this city, supervising statistical specialist and officer-in-charge Donna Marie D. Mobe said, to register children, the accompanying parent must be PhilSys registered prior to the registration of the their children in PhilSys. The PhilSys Number (PSN) of the child shall be linked to the PSN of the parent or guardian for authentication purposes.

Mobe also said, an original copy of supporting documents must also be presented to validate the demographic information of the child. Any of these supporting documents will be accepted during the registration; certificate of live birth issued by the PSA or the local civil registry office (LCRO), report of birth issued by the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post (PFSP), certificate of foundling issued by the PSA, certificate of foundling or certificate of live birth or persons with no known parent/s issued by the PSA, Municipal Form No. 102 issued by the LCRO, Philippine Passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), or any document showing the full name of the child, date and place of birth, mother’s full name and father, if acknowledged.

Only the demographic information and front-facing photograph of the child shall be collected during the registration. Also, the complete biometric information of the child including the fingerprints, iris scan, and the updated front-facing photograph shall be captured once they reach the age of five.

Mobile registration services are also continuously carried out in all public and private schools in the province especially in the child development centers to register students in PhilSys. (DPN/PIA MIMAROPA - Oriental Mindoro)
