Sibugay communicators hold inaugural assembly

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) - The Mindanao Communicators Network Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter (MindaComNet-ZSC) recently convened its inaugural general assembly and oath taking of officers, marking a milestone in its journey to effective communication within the province.

Zamboanga Sibugay Gov. Ann K. Hofer presided over the oath-taking ceremony, emphasizing the pivotal role of communicators in disseminating truth and combating the proliferation of fake news.

The governor also underscored the importance of MindaComNet-ZSC in keeping Sibugaynons informed about the various programs and activities of the provincial government, enabling them to actively engage and access the benefits provided.

"This initiative will pave the way for effective communication, fostering collaboration among various government agencies to inform Sibugaynons about the different programs available to uplift their lives," Gov. Hofer said.

Meanwhile, Noemi B. Edaga, the regional head of Philippine Information Agency, lauded the initiative and introduced the Vibrant ZamPen program, aligning with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s socioeconomic agenda to promote sustainable agri-fishery industries in the region.

Capt. Lynneth Nacionales of the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office, who was elected MindaComNet-ZSC president, conveyed her appreciation to PIA for spearheading the event and also outlined future endeavors including plans to conduct trainings, seminars, and orientations to hone the skills of communicators and expand their knowledge.

MindaComNet unites communicators across region 9, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, facilitating collaboration among information officers and communicators from various sectors, including government and private institutions. Dedicated to fostering effective communication, it serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and partnership in the province and beyond.

The Zamboanga Sibugay chapter was established in November 2023, with members from different government agencies, academe, media, and civic organizations, with the election of 16 officers signifying a commitment to advancing communication efforts for the betterment of Zamboanga Sibugay.
