Tabuk City to build 14 condo towers under Bagong Pilipinas housing program

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) -- A township settlement under the government’s Pambansang Pabahay Program will soon rise in Tabuk City to provide adequate housing for qualified residents of Kalinga.

Tabuk City Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero announced in a recent press conference that he will enter into a tripartite agreement with the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD), and a contractor for the construction of a township project.

“We’ll be meeting with the contractor and one of the assistant secretaries of DHSUD para i-finalize natin ‘yung pagpapatayo ng 14 buildings in San Juan,” Estrañero said.

He said the affordable housing project involves the construction of 14 condominium-type buildings of 2,000 to 3,000 units on a site in Barangay San Juan, Tabuk.

The city government signed a memorandum of understanding with the DHSUD for the housing program in March 2023.

According to the mayor, the project is seen as addressing the housing gap in Tabuk, and the province of Kalinga as a whole.

“This is open not only to residents of Tabuk, but [also residents] from other municipalities or even other provinces as long as you are qualified or you will be able to pay for the monthly amortization,” Estrañero said.

The Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino is a flagship program of the national government that aims to provide decent, safe, and more affordable housing to Filipinos. (IOS- PIA CAR,Kalinga)
