NHA housing project provides new homes to 309 families in Zambo City

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – A new housing project of the National Housing Authority (NHA) is set to provide homes to 309 families in Zamboanga City and held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 12.

The Sikat Talisayan Housing Project, with a budget of P72.7 million, aims to provide homes to 309 informal settler families in Talisayan and nearby barangays. The project, covering 33,359 square meters, will feature 2-storey row house units, each with two bedrooms, a toilet and bath, a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room.

Of the 309 families targeted for assistance, only 55 will be provided housing units along with developed lots, while the remaining 254 will be awarded developed lots, paving the way for secure and stable housing solutions.

Mayor John Dalipe expressed his gratitude to the NHA and emphasized the collaborative effort between the local and national governments to make this project a reality.

The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including NHA-Region IX and BARMM Regional Manager Engr. Al-Khwarizmi Indanan and Labuan Barangay Chairperson Ron Carlo Maravilla signify a unified approach towards improving living conditions and providing opportunities for families in Zamboanga City.

Moreover, the NHA disbursed P1.54 million under the Emergency Housing Assistance Program to 154 families affected by fire incidents across various barangays. Of the total recipients, 44 were from Baliwasan, 17 from Recodo, 20 from Calarian, 14 from Malagutay, three from Tumaga, one from Cabatangan, one from Capisan, one from San Roque, two from San Jose Gusu, four from Canelar, four from Kampung Islam, two from Pasonanca, and 41 from Labuan. 

Both initiatives highlight the commitment of Mayor John Dalipe, the NHA, and government agencies provide housing solutions and support to vulnerable communities during challenging times.
