DOST Tarlac to provide embroidery tech to garments manufacturing enterprise

TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will provide computerized embroidery technology to a garments manufacturing enterprise in Tarlac.

It signed a Memorandum of Agreement with M.H Agdeppa Garments Manufacturing for the second phase of the project funded under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

Provincial Director Karen Dañez said the program aims to assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) improve overall productivity through integration of science, technology and innovation in their processes.

“It is important that our MSMEs should be able to adapt to the ever changing business landscape, upscale their production in order to meet growing demands and improve their products and services to become globally competitive,” she emphasized.

In 2021, M.H Agdeppa Garments Manufacturing was able to upgrade its productivity through the acquisition of a printing machine which eliminated the need for outsourcing from other enterprises and improved profitability, product quality, and timeliness.

Owner Marvic Agdeppa expressed his gratitude for the approval of the project essential for the enterprise’s growth.

“The SETUP program of the DOST is a big help to the business I started as it sped-up our processes and production, increased our sales, and widened our market because of technology,” he shared.

SETUP iFund is available to qualified MSMEs with no interest and refundable within three years. Priority sectors include food processing, furniture, gifts, decors, and handicrafts. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
