SEC partners with PNP Tarlac vs investment scams

TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Tarlac Provincial Police Office (TPPO) which binds the two agencies in mounting a campaign against investment scams.

They will work on activities relative to the implementation of the SEC Anti-Scam and Illegal Taking of Investments Group which is a group within the SEC Campaign Network that is focused on raising awareness and educating the public on investment scams and other fraudulent schemes.

Tarlac Extension Office Director Richard Laus highlighted the commitment of SEC in providing support and expertise to law enforcement agencies in pursuit of protecting the investing public.

"We are grateful to the TPPO for welcoming this partnership because in the digital era, there is a need for coordinated efforts to combat financial fraud and misconduct,” Laus stressed.

Tarlac Provincial Police Director Col. Miguel Guzman said law enforcement agencies and regulating bodies need to work together in safeguarding the integrity of the financial markets.

“We are thankful for this partnership as this will help us exercise our mandate as public servants in ensuring investor protection and maintaining market stability,” Guzman added.

Part of the partnership is the outlining of plans for capability building and training of police officers in handling complex financial investigations. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
