Aklan holds ‘Hinuguran it Akeanon’ trade fair

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -- The province of Aklan is holding its second "Hinuguran It Akeanon" trade fair as one of the major events for the celebration of the 68th founding anniversary of the province, which is commonly known as Aklan Day.

This will be staged at the Aklan Trade Hall at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan from April 17 to 27.

According to Department of Trade and Industry OIC-Provincial Director Romel L. Amihan,  the trade fair showcases various products celebrating the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Aklan micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), hence the term Hinuguran It Akeanon, which means the product of Aklanons’ hard work.

The event also features and introduces new products made of piña fiber, abaca, nito, and coconut.

Amihan said the trade fair highlights the different cultural festivals such as the Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival, Talibong Festival, Ati-atihan Festivals, among others, that would define the unique qualities of being hardworking, passionate, and creative of Aklanon artisans.

An opening program was held on April 17 at the Capitol Grounds of Estancia, Kalibo.

A total of 75 MSMEs are participating in the trade fair, showcasing their locally-made products such as loom woven fabrics and wearables made of piña and other indigenous fibers, fashion accessories, furnishings, decorative crafts, food products, and the like.
