BALANGA CITY (PIA) -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) inaugurated the first two projects completed nationwide under the FY 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance - Incentive Fund (SGLGIF).

These road developments, located in Bagac and Hermosa towns in Bataan, aim to enhance the efficiency of goods transportation and improve service accessibility.

DILG Regional Director Anthony Nuyda disclosed that Bagac achieved the top spot nationally by completing the construction of Alapat Road at Barangay Banawang while Hermosa secured second place with the concreting of road at Barangay Palihan.

Bagac and Hermosa's achievement represents a significant milestone in local infrastructure development.

“These projects, fully completed in March 2024, serve as shining examples of effective collaboration between local government units (LGUs) and DILG,” he emphasized.

Nuyda highlighted that the initiatives, funded with P1.8 million each, serve as vital links for communities, promoting economic growth and amplifying tourism potential across Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, DILG Provincial Director Belina Herman underscored that the newly constructed roads will significantly benefit the community with improved accessibility.

“The Alapat Road at Barangay Banawang in Bagac has a length of 119.5 meters and width of five meters while the concreted road at Barangay Palihan in Hermosa has a length of 139.80 meters and width of five meters,” Herman added.

She commended the LGUs for their achievement and urged them to continuously work hard for the benefit of Bataeños.

Formerly known as the Performance Challenge Fund, SGLGIF is an incentive given in the form of a financial grant to eligible LGUs under the Local Governance Performance Management Program. (CLJD/RPQ-PIA 3)
