DTI intensifies price monitoring for basic, prime commodities in Quirino

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - To ensure that consumers are protected from unfair trade practices, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Consumer Protection Unit (CPU), embarked on continuous price monitoring and enforcement activities in the municipalities Diffun, Cabarroguis, Saguday, Aglipay, and Maddela.

Trade and Industry Development Specialist Dominic Salvador, CPU head, said the monitoring activities aimed to ensure that the supply of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) is sufficient and to assure the consumers that business establishments in their respective municipalities adhere to the Suggested Retail Price (SRP).

“In our visit to some construction firms, we observed that fast-moving construction materials like cement and steel bars posed no significant change in prices,” Salvador said.

The monitoring team also visited major business firms to check the prices of fast-moving goods such as canned green sardines, instant noodles, instant coffees, powdered milk, and processed canned meats. and

“The prices of these BNPCs are still the same from our previous monitoring activities,” Salvador added.

The team also checked the presence of Consumer Welfare Desks in the establishments to act on consumer complaints about their products and services.

Salvador assured that DTI Quirino Provincial Office will continue to intensify its monthly monitoring activities to ensure stable supply and prices of BNPCs as he urged consumers to report to their office any unfair trade practices. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
