Typhoon-hit Nueva Vizcaya towns, farmers' cooperatives get aid from DA

BAGABAG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — Typhoon affected towns and farmers' cooperatives here have received assistance from the Department of Agriculture.

The recipient municipalities were Ambaguio, Aritao, Alfonso Castañeda, Bagabag, Bambang, Bayombong, Diadi, Dupax Del Norte, Dupax Del Sur, Kasibu, Kayapa, Quezon, Santa Fe, Solano and Villaverde.

The recipient Farmers Cooperative Associations (FCAs), on the other hand were the Acacia Highland Farmers Association, Alfonso Castañeda Vagetables Growers Association, Catalidonan Indigenous People Irrigators Association, Iwak Ancestral Domain Development Associations, Sanguit Upland Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative and  Pangkabuhayan Kilusan at Samahan ng mga Magsasaka ng Arwas.

The local governments and FCAs received assorted highland vegetable seeds, plastic crates, banana planting materials and organic fertilizers.

Arsenio Apostol, DA Nueva Vizcaya Experiment station manager, said the assistance was sourced from their Quick Respond Fund-Typhoon Egay for 2024 High Value Crops Development Program.

“Use these assistance to recover your loses from the negative effects of typhoon ‘Egay’ and strive to earn from your livelihood. We are always here to help and assist you,” he said.

The distribution of the typhoon assistance was attended by Board Member Jose Tomas who represented Representative Luisa Lloren Cuaresma,  Provincial Agriculturist Absalom Rizal Baysa, and Regional High Value Crops Development Program Coordinator Carol Albay. ( OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
