TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - About 5,400 jobs will be up for grabs from participating employers during the 2024 Labor Day job fairs in Cagayan Valley.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Manggagawang Pilipino, Kabalikat at Kasama sa Pag-asenso.”

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Jesus Elpidio Atal Jr. said that the job fairs are part of the celebration of the 122nd Philippine Labor Day and the 50th anniversary of the Labor Code on May 1.

The job fairs on May 1 will be held at SM City Tuguegarao in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Isabela Community Center in the City of Ilagan, Isabela; Robinsons Place Santiago in Santiago City; the Provincial Gymnasium in Cabarroguis, Quirino; and the Provincial Capitol in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

“Sinikap naming tipunin ang maraming trabaho mula sa iba’t-ibang employers upang maraming pagpilian ang ating mga job seekers at upang matugunan ang kanilang pangangailangan sa trabaho,” Atal said.

(Our office exerted efforts to inquire about job openings from different employers so that our job seekers have many choices and can meet their job needs.)

Aside from the job fair, Atal said that the celebration also aims to bring the various government services closer to the public through the conduct of the Serbisyo Caravan.

Organizations assisted by DOLE, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Trade and Industry will showcase their local products through the ‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo Fair’.

The DOLE will also conduct payouts to 11,323 workers of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program throughout the region. A total of 58.1 million pesos in wages will be distributed.

The Department will also provide livelihood assistance worth 23.1 million pesos for 1,123 individual and group beneficiaries of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program.

Meanwhile, other activities that will be conducted on Labor Day include the fun run, medical mission, labor education, photography contest, and many others. (OTB/MDCT/PIA Cagayan)
