CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA) --  More than 1,500 children ages one to four years old in Kalinga  are now  registered with  the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).  

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA)-Kalinga, a total of 1,505  one to four year old children  have already  registered with the national ID system as of April 16, 2024 .

The registration of children ages one to  four  years old  was rolled out in the province  last February 15.

To register, kids must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian, who is also registered with the PhilSys,  as the child’s PhilSys Number (PSN) will be linked to the PSN of the parent or guardian for authentication.

 The PSA explained that only the demographic information and front-facing photograph of the children will be collected during the PhilSys registration.  The  full biometric information such as fingerprint and iris scan will be captured when the child turns five years old.

Requirement for the registration is any of the following primary documents:

·       Certificate of Live Birth issued by the PSA or Local Civil Registry Office 

·       Report of Birth issued by the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post 

·       Certificate of Foundling issued by the PSA

·       Certificate of Foundling or Certificate of Live Birth of Person with No Known Parent/s issued by the PSA

·       Municipal Form No. 102

·       Philippine Passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs

 If these documents are not available, any document bearing the necessary demographic information such as full name of the child, date and place of birth, name of the mother, and full name of the father (if acknowledged) is accepted.

The registration for the national ID children ages one to four years old  is part of the government’s efforts to provide an inclusive, secure, and sustainable national identification system.

Only children five years old and above were included in the  PhilSys registration that started in 2021. (IOS-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
