Caloocan installs over 80 street lights in multiple barangays

MANILA, (PIA) -- In a bid to enhance public safety, the city government of Caloocan has installed more than 80 new street lights across seven barangays (villages) within a week's time.

Separate lighting ceremonies were held to illuminate various streets, including Ligaya Street, Duasnes Street, Bataan Street, Colonel M. Asistio Street in Barangay 122, Sampaguita Street in Barangay 156, Baltazar Street in Barangays 56, 57, 59 and 60 in South Caloocan, and Kakawate Street in Barangay 179 in North Caloocan.

Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan reiterated his administration's commitment to maintaining safety, peace and order in local communities, highlighting the significance of well-lit streets and alleys in deterring potential crimes and ensuring road safety for pedestrians and motorists.

"Our city has made great strides in terms of safety and peace, and we aim to continue strengthening our efforts so that our residents can continuously benefit," Malapitan said.

"I've always said that when the streets and corners are well-lit, it's like having watchful eyes when we walk at night. That's why even before half of the year is over, we've already installed nearly a hundred street lights to ensure you are guided by light until you reach your destination," he added.

The new lighting installations are part of the mayor's pledge to have "brighter streets for a safer city" in Caloocan. (PIA-NCR)
