LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) – The province of Ifugao on Thursday, April 18, inaugurated its new provincial hospital in Barangay Poblacion North in the town of Lagawe.
Department of Health Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan led the inauguration of the Ifugao General Hospital (IGH) which replaced the old provincial hospital which was damaged by Typhoon Emong (Chan-hom) in 2009 and was shut down in 2013 after it was found to be located on a geo-hazard area.
The IGH will operate as a Level 1 hospital with a capacity of 45 beds. A Level 1 hospital has an operating room, a recovery room, maternity facilities, isolation facilities, a clinical laboratory, an imaging facility and a pharmacy.
Pangilinan said the completion and operationalization of the hospital is a realization of an important component of the province-wide healthcare system in the implementation of the Universal Health Care law.
Ifugao residents can now access higher levels of health care services at the IGH, saving them the trouble of traveling to other places for medical treatment.
Pangilinan praised the leadership of Gov. Jerry Dalipog and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, as well those who came before them who paved the way for the construction and completion of the hospital to enhance the delivery of health services to the people in Ifugao and from nearby areas.
