ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- The Odiongan Water District (OWD) has started implementing water rationing for their consumers who are experiencing water shortage due to the effect of El Niño on this town. As of Thursday, almost all barangays served by OWD is affected by water shortage

In a press release, OWD said that the rationing scheme aims to ensure that all consumers have access to an adequate water supply despite the challenges posed by the El Niño phenomenon.

They also urge consumers to use water wisely and efficiently to prevent further shortages.

Consumers are also urged to report any leaks or wastage to help conserve water.

"The El Niño phenomenon has brought dry conditions to the region, leading to decreased water levels in rivers and reservoirs. The water rationing scheme is expected to remain in place until the situation improves," according to a press release by OWD.

Meanwhile, the local government unit of Odiongan earlier said that at least 18 sitios in town are also recieving water deliveries from the agencies that are members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.  (PJF/PIA Mimaropa - Romblon)
