BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - Jobs fairs, KADIWA ng Pangulo,  and distribution of livelihood assistance  will highlight the celebration of the 122nd Labor Day on May 1 spearheaded by the  Department of Labor and Employment.

The DOLE  Cordillera with the Baguio City Public Employment Service Office, and other partner agencies and private institutions will lead a jobs fair at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center, and  SM City Baguio.
 
As of April 23 data, 47 local employers will offer a total of 3,145 job vacancies  in  the two jobs fair venues.
 

There will also be a One – Stop Shop for government services  particularly by the Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Trade and Industry, PhilHealth, Social Security System, PAGIBIG, Bureau of Internal Revenue, PHILPOST,  Department of Foreign Affairs, Professional Regulations Commission, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Employees Compensation Commission, and Occupational Safety and Health Center.

In partnership with TESDA,  free health and wellness services will be available for jobseekers and the public.
 

The Department of Agriculture will hold a KADIWA ng Pangulo para sa mga Manggagawa at  the Malcolm Square from April 27 to 30,  and at the Baguio Convention Center on May 1.
 
Government- assisted micro, small and medium enterprises will also feature their products at the KADIWA ng Pangulo.

DOLE- CAR Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra  also announced during the  April 24 Kapihan Forum that around P15.56 million worth of livelihood assistance will be distributed  to various groups and individuals in the region on Labor Day.

Lacambra said around P6.45 million assistance for loom weaving, hog/goat raising and NegoKart will be distributed to beneficiaries from Abra, while  83 beneficiaries from Apayao will receive a total livelihood assistance of around P1.44 million.

For Benguet,  P796,376 will be provided for various livelihood projects of 27 beneficiaries;  P1.5 million for  various livelihood undertaking of 74 individuals in  Kalinga; and  P5.33 million livelihood grant for   378 individuals from Mountain Province.

The DOLE – CAR will also conduct the payout of around P42.56 million for the 7,011 Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program beneficiaries.
  
Aside from Baguio City, similar activities will also be spearheaded by DOLE in  the provinces of Cordillera, Lacambra said.

The Labor Day  celebration  this year adopts the theme, “Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Manggagawang Pilipino, Kabalikat at Kasama Sa Pag – asenso.”  (JDP/CCD with reports from Marvilyn Lokines and Venus Caguioa/BSU Interns)
