PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) officially inaugurated its new and renovated facilities last Wednesday in a ceremony aimed at providing an enhanced learning environment for students.

The event began with a ribbon-cutting and blessing for the new lobby, elevators, auditorium and gymnasium. These infrastructure upgrades are intended to help raise the quality of education offered at PLP.

"We want to ensure our students have proper facilities that contribute to an ideal learning setting," said PLP President Dr. Glicerio Maningas.

During the program, local officials including Mayor Vico Sotto, Congressional Representative Roman Romulo and Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, Jr. delivered remarks highlighting the city government's commitment to prioritizing education.

"It's crucial that PLP's stakeholders have a sense of ownership over these new amenities," Mayor Sotto said. "We must all take responsibility for maintaining them."

Sotto emphasized the importance of the university community caring for the upgraded infrastructure.

The ceremony also featured student performances in a community singing portion.

City officials have said the P100 million project will benefit PLP's over 10,000 students and provide them with modern facilities comparable to other top universities in the metro.

The new resources are part of Pasig City's ongoing efforts to invest in quality education for its youth. Last year, the city government allocated over P2 billion for education initiatives and scholarships. (PIA-NCR)
