BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA)  - The provincial government is set to give recognition and award to married couples who have reached golden anniversary.

Board Member Patricio Dumlao Jr, proponent of the  ordinance entitled “Nueva Vizcaya Enduring Devotion Award Ordinance,” said the measure aims to honor and recognize long-lasting marriages and reinforce family values.

“It is now under deliberation in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and we expect to be approved in full the earliest possible time,” he said.

Dumlao said the proposed ordinance also provides couples who have reached their golden anniversary a P50,000 cash incentive and  free medical check-up at any medical facility owned and operated by the provincial government.

“This health benefit aims to support the well-being of senior citizens, acknowledging their contribution to the community through decades of partnership,” he said.

The criteria for the selection of couples to be awarded also include the absence of any record or complaints of domestic violence, in adherence to the provisions of RA 9262,  known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act.

“This ordinance is more than just celebrating the significant marital milestones, it is about affirming the sanctity of marriage and the foundational role it plays in our society especially in times when family structures are increasingly under pressure, recognizing and supporting these enduring unions sends a powerful message of hope and resilience,” Dumlao said.
