TESDA, DepEd equip senior high students through national certification

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), assures to produce job-ready senior high school students through its region-wide assessment and certification.

Provincial Director Gerardo Mercado said students on the technical-vocational livelihood (TVL) track could get national certification from TESDA after passing the national competency assessment.

The participating schools in Palawan are San Jose National High School, Balabac National High School, and Coron School of Fisheries.

“Purpose nito ay to ensure na job-ready. Kasi kapag meron silang national certificate ibig sabihin, they are possessing knowledge, skills, and attitude to perform ‘yong work in accordance with the standards of the industry,” he said.

Senior high students of San Jose National High School join the simultaneous kick-off assessment and certification of TVL track on April 29.

The assessment for the students is scheduled for April 30 after the simultaneous kick-off in the Mimaropa region.

The national certificate could help the student be equipped to join the industry of choice, like tourism or self-employment.

DepEd also makes efforts to meet the training regulations of the TESDA, such as funding the training of trainers and pursuing national certificates for their teachers, Mercado added.

“Very positive kami kasi ‘yong DepEd, close coordination nila sa amin na ma-meet ‘yong sinasaad ng training regulation ng TESDA ay ginagawan nila ng paraan,” he said. (RG/PIA MIMAROPA - Palawan)
