CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Murvic Irrigators' Association, Inc., led by its President Romeo A. Geducos, expressed their sincere gratitude to the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Mimaropa region for the completion of an additional 555-meter concrete canal in Barangay Urdaneta, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro recently.

Geducos highlighted the importance of the project, stating that the additional canal will significantly improve irrigation efficiency.

This improvement aims to reduce flooding and also serves as preparation for the possibility of La Niña phenomenon.

[Our rice field used to be unpaved and frequently flooded, causing damage and destruction. But now as you see our rice, nothing is harmed by the canal.]

[Our rice fields will hopefully always be as lovely as our canal—this is just one example of how the NIA has greatly benefited the farmers in our barangay.]

As the newly constructed canal begins to benefit the farmers of Barangay Urdaneta, it serves as a testament to the transformative impact of infrastructure investments in empowering rural communities and fostering agricultural growth. (GATS/PIA MIMAROPA)
