Pangasinan capital town opens applications for 'Iskolar Ako Ng Bayan' program

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) -- Lingayen, the capital town of Pangasinan, is now accepting applications for its scholarship program, 'Iskolar Ako ng Bayan,' aimed at supporting financially challenged yet deserving students within the municipality.

Mae Rueda, the information officer of Lingayen's local government unit, announced that the program is open to all residents and incoming first-year college students.

Applications started on April 29 and will continue until Aug. 16.

To qualify, the student's parents' or guardians' combined annual income should not exceed P200,000.

"Successful applicants who pass the qualifying examination on Aug. 24, will receive a P5,000 allowance per semester throughout their college program," Rueda said.

She said maintaining a passing grade is required for those who will qualify for the program, but should not have any failing grade throughout their college program.

To apply, students are required to submit the following documents to the mayor's office:

  • Fully Accomplished Individual Information Record (Application Form)
  • Barangay Certificate of Residency
  • Barangay Indigency Certificate
  • Income Tax Return (for government-employed parents)
  • Social Case Study Report from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office
  • 2x2 photo and email address.

For assistance with the application process, Rueda suggested that students visit the Lingayen Information Office's official Facebook page for detailed procedures. Alternatively, they can head to the mayor's office for any inquiries they may have. (JCR/MJTAB/RPM/PIA Pangasinan)
