RDC national convention bares strategies to stimulate economic growth in ZamPen

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – The recent Regional Development Council-Private Sector Representatives (RDC-PSR) 15th National Convention has sparked optimism and ambition in Zamboanga Peninsula (ZamPen) as stakeholders eagerly anticipate the region’s economic upswing.

Discussions at the convention centered around innovative strategies and best practices that could be adopted to stimulate economic growth and foster inclusive development in ZamPen. The insights gained from these discussions are expected to pave the way for impactful initiatives that will benefit the region as a whole.

Mayor John Dalipe, RDC 9 Chairperson, emphasized that the government remains committed to implementing strategies that will sustain the country's gains in terms of growth, and to keep the country on track with its medium- and long-term objectives.

“By embodying the principles of "GIVE", particularly among our private sector partners, we will undoubtedly make significant strides towards realizing our long-term Vision of a Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay Para sa Lahat,” Dalipe added.

Furthermore, the convention shed light on the potential of digital technologies and innovation in driving economic progress. Sessions focused on leveraging digital tools to enhance business competitiveness, support entrepreneurship, and bridge the gap between urban and rural areas in terms of access to opportunities.

Mercedes Lourdes Quisumbing, a private sector representative from Pagadian City, emphasizes the significance of research and development in driving economic growth. "I find this convention valuable as it exposes us to new ideas that can enhance our economy through innovation," she added.

Usec. Carlos Bernardo Abad Santos also highlights roles of the private sector in driving research, innovation, and technology development to fuel economic and social progress, aligning with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028’s objectives. He highlighted the President’s directive to bolster RDCs’ presence at the local level, aiming to bring government initiatives closer to communities. 

The convention’s outcomes are poised to significantly benefit ZamPen’s economic growth. By fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and aligning strategies with national development agendas, ZamPen is primed to leverage its strengths and opportunities for sustainable development and inclusive growth, propelling the region towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
