Informal sector beneficiaries in Zambo Sur received P6.7M cash aid

ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR (PIA) - A total of 1,594 beneficiaries from the informal sector received cash aid totaling over P6.7 million under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

The beneficiaries from the municipalities of Tambulig and Labangan and the city of Pagadian were each paid P3,810 for completing ten days of community work. The payout took place during the celebration of the 122nd Labor Day held at the Mega Gymnasium in Dao, Pagadian City.

Jasper Roy Alcala, a resident from Kawit in Pagadian City extended his appreciation for the assistance he received from DOLE. He expressed deep gratitude for being included among the beneficiaries, especially after the fire incident his family faced last year.

Dako gyud nga pasalamat namo kay dakong tabang ning nadawat namo sa TUPAD. Naapil mi sa sunog last year dayun paagi ani, hinay-hinay namong gibuo among panimalay,” he said.

(We are very thankful for the help we received from TUPAD. We were affected by a fire last year, and through this assistance, we were able to slowly rebuild our home.)

Boyet Domulas, a beneficiary and a farmer from Tawagan Norte, said that the assistance given to him is a big help, especially for the daily needs of his family.

First District Rep. Divina Grace Yu shared the significance of the TUPAD program for the beneficiaries, especially those who were affected by the El Niño.
