Kauswagan's 'Sikad Pa Hugyaw' fun run attracts over 300 participants

KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- The 'Sikad Pa Hugyaw Fun Run' witnessed a vibrant turnout of more than 300 participants, marking the commencement of the town's 76th charter day celebration.

Organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), the fun run served as a platform to underscore the significance of physical fitness and well-being. Participants hailed from various sectors, including the youth, local government employees, and members of the security sector.

Warren Tabanao, president of the town's SK Federation, expressed that the event aligns with their mission to engage the youth actively. He highlighted the fun run as a cornerstone of their annual activities, fostering active citizenship among the youth, particularly during festive celebrations.

Covering a distance of approximately three kilometers, runners encountered obstacles at three stations along the route, commencing from the Kauswagan International Organic Convention Center and concluding at the Fisherman's Wharf Food Park & Entertainment Center.

Goldmar Biasong, one of the Top 10 runners, joined the event to experience a fun run and have a good time. He advocated for youth involvement in sports while discouraging vices.

“Para sa mga kabatan-onan, undanga na inyong mga bisyo (For the youth, stop your vices) then practice [sports] and try our best,” he said. 

Echoing the sentiment of promoting fitness and wellness, Baby Jane Almogela, an employee of the Municipal Agriculture Office, emphasized the event's role in fostering camaraderie among colleagues and promoting overall well-being.

“Fun run is a good start for fitness and wellnes. It is very important sa atong well being. Para sa tanan, let’s join the fun run especially diri sa Kauswagan kay lingaw jud kaayo diri sa atoang lugnsod,” she said.
