Navotas solon backs PBBM on minimum wage review

MANILA, (PIA) -- Navotas Representative Toby M. Tiangco expressed support to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for a review of the minimum wage rates in each region.

In his speech on Labor Day, Marcos ordered the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Boards to "initiate a timely review of the minimum wage rates in their respective regions, with due consideration to the impact of inflation amongst others."

"This crucial move underscores our commitment to ensuring that our workers can afford basic necessities and live decent lives amidst the challenging economic landscape," Tiangco said.

"As we navigate through the repercussions of inflation and escalating living costs, it becomes vital to reassess our wage rates in consideration of the needs of our constituents," he added.

The Navotas lawmaker also noted that it is the duty of public servants to safeguard the welfare of the people, especially those who toil tirelessly to sustain their families and contribute to the nation's growth.

"President Bongbong's call for a wage review, with due consideration to the impact of inflation and other relevant factors, is not merely a matter of policy but a moral imperative. Let us stand united in our resolve to uphold the dignity and well-being of every Filipino worker," Tiangco said. (PIA-NCR)
