ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- A total of 1,222 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from ten municipalities in Romblon received aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under their Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The payout took place on April 23-24 and was attended by representatives from the BHW Partylist, DSWD, and local governments units.

According to Abegail Fetilo, team leader of DSWD Romblon, a total of P3,058,000 was distributed to the BHWs. The funds were sourced from the AICS fund of the BHW Partylist and distributed across the province.

This aid is expected to help the daily expenses of the BHWs, who typically receive only allowances as compensation for their work.

Fetilo mentioned that in the second batch of distribution, additional BHWs from the remaining municipalities in Romblon, which were not included in the initial batch, are expected to receive assistance. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa - Romblon)
