SSS to collect P2.2M from delinquent employers in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) -- At least P2.2 million will be collected from eight delinquent employers visited by the Social Security System (SSS) La Union Branch under its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) program around this city on April 30, 2024.

The campaign is a monthly initiative of the SSS that visits non-compliant employers to remind them of their delinquency.

Notices were given to each employer due to fines, underreported and unregistered employees, and non-remittance of contributions.

“The purpose of this RACE campaign is to remind employers of their delinquency and the need to comply within 15 days; otherwise, they will be subjected to filing cases,” SSS La Union Branch Head Francisco Pentecostes said.

Pentecostes assured that the 197 employees working in the identified establishments will be guaranteed benefits in pursuance of Republic Act (RA) No. 11199, or the Social Security Act of 2018.

The SSS La Union Branch issues a 15-day extension to a non-compliant employer, as per a show-cause order, recently. (SGR)

This act ensures that social security protection and other privileges will be extended to every member and beneficiary, particularly local Filipino workers.

To prevent delinquency, the SSS provides a number of programs, particularly its condonation program, which consolidates past-due loans into a single loan upon application.

The SSS, on the other hand, reported that about 70 percent of delinquent employers in the city that were visited between January and March 2024 had already paid their dues and enrolled in installation programs to address their inadequacies.

The upcoming RACE campaign is anticipated to take place in May and would target visiting the first district of La Union.

The SSS pledges to continue providing its services to assist its members and beneficiaries, and promote social justice. (JCR/AMB/KJCR/SGR, PIA La Union)
