DOLE to workers: Progress and development come with the right employment

ANTIPOLO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) advised workers and job seekers that the progress and development of oneself, and the country, come with finding the right career opportunity for themselves.

DOLE IV-A regional director Atty. Roy Buenafe delivered the message during the 2024 Labor Day celebrations, where he said that DOLE supports all the workers' causes and wishes that the job fairs organized by the department will direct them to suitable jobs.

The director said: "We wish everyone who is seeking work finds a suitable job for themselves. To our employers, let’s give a chance to our job seekers to find a job."

During one of the job fairs organized by DOLE in Rizal on May 1, from 754 registered applicants over 83 were hired on the spot. One includes Dawn Moster, who expressed gratitude for unexpectedly landing a housekeeping position.

Moster shared her initial plan of applying as a production operator but was pleasantly surprised by the immediate job offer in housekeeping.

"Thank you so much to the DOLE and the Antipolo City government because they had this program today for jobseekers like me, I hope they can be helped a lot more," Moster expressed her gratitude.

Celia Ariola, DOLE Rizal Provincial Head, highlighted the importance of every worker in driving the country’s development and economic progress. She emphasized that regardless of role or salary, every individual contributes significantly to personal growth, company advancement, and national development.

"Everyone is special and has a part in the workforce, so even if other people think that your salary is small, the work you do is small, still overall you are helping to develop yourself, your company, and above all our country," Ariola underlined.

The department also distributed over P2.4 million in cash assistance to 463 beneficiaries of the DOLE Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program, further supporting individuals affected by work-related challenges.

DOLE Rizal reiterated its commitment to facilitating employment opportunities through local government units and in partnership with educational institutions and non-government organizations. The continuous efforts of PESOs in cities and municipalities remain open to continue assisting job seekers in their employment endeavors.

"Usually we have scheduled job fairs, not only through the LGU, but we also do something in partnership with the schools and non-government organizations. It doesn't stop here. At the same time, our PESOs in the municipalities are always open for job seekers," Ariola added.

According to the data of DOLE IV-A, 604 jobseekers were hired on the spot from the subsequent job fairs organized by the department in the Calabarzon region from April 29 to May 1.

While 257 individuals regionwide received skills enhancement training from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), five were admitted to the DOLE livelihood assistance program, and 635 clients assisted through the services offered by PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, Social Security System (SSS), and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
