Mayor Jeannie inaugurates more infra projects for Malabon

MANILA, (PIA) -- Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval on Sunday led the inauguration and blessing of four infrastructure projects in various areas of the city. The projects, which underwent rehabilitation and upgrades, aim to enhance service delivery, promote road safety, and provide better facilities for residents.

The Muzon Dulo Basketball Court, also known as the MUDUBA Covered Court, and the Muzon Multi-Purpose Hall (MAC Covered Court), both located in Barangay Muzon, were among the projects opened to the public. These covered courts will serve as spaces for leisure activities, sports such as basketball and zumba, and opportunities for families to bond and engage in various activities.

In addition to the covered courts, several alleys along Katarungan Street and Kaunlaran Street (Phase III) underwent upgrades, including improvements to the drainage systems. These enhancements are aimed at ensuring the safety of Malabuenos, maintaining cleanliness, and preventing flooding during inclement weather.

Mayor Jeannie emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health and safety of Malabuenos and providing them with well-maintained facilities for different activities outside their homes.

"We value the health and safety of Malabuenos, as well as meaningful engagements with family and the community. We have improved and opened these projects to add vibrancy and provide our residents in Malabon with facilities for various activities that improve their well-being and safety while they are outside their homes," she said.

The City Engineering Office detailed the rehabilitation work carried out on the projects, which included repainting, upgrading and concreting of city roads and alleys, as well as improving the drainage systems and manholes.

City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete highlighted that the infrastructure projects were improved to encourage residents to actively participate in physical and social activities within their barangay and nearby neighborhoods.

These upgraded facilities also provide a safe environment for residents to work and conduct transactions with the local government.

"These facilities can also serve as evacuation centers in times of need, especially during typhoon disasters and other emergencies. Under Mayor Jeannie's leadership, we assure our residents that through the improvement of the projects, we prioritize the safety and well-being of the Malabuenos," Dr. Rosete said.

During the inauguration of the projects amid the very warm weather, residents were treated to free ice cream and other treats, according to Luziel Balajadia, the head of the City Public Employment Service Office.

This recent initiative builds upon previous infrastructure improvements in Malabon City. In April, Mayor Jeannie led the inauguration of a new footbridge on Letre Creek, repairs and enhancements to Delos Santos Road 2 and 3, drainage improvements on Delos Santos Road, and the establishment of the new Gozon Outpost in Letre and PNP/SWAT outpost on Roque Street.

Through these infrastructure projects, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and the local government of Malabon City demonstrate their commitment to providing better services, promoting safety, and creating spaces for community engagement and well-being. (PIA-NCR)
