Executive courses for barangay leaders inked

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Good news! The City Government of Pasig, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP), Quezon City University (QCU), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) ink new partnership to conduct executive courses for barangay leaders.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, led by QCU President, Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, PLP President, Dr. Glicerio M. Maningas, and Mr. Carlo Fernando of USAID-EDC.

"Sa LGU level, lagi nating sinasabi na kapag meron tayong best practices, kapag may nalalaman tayo, dapat hindi tayo madamot. Kapag may nakita tayong mas magaling kesa sa atin, dapat magpakumbaba tayo and learn from them. Salamat QCU for your initiative to share your knowledge to us in Pasig City through the BLeSDS for the OSY project,” Mayor Vico Sotto said.

(At the LGU level, we always say that when we have best practices, when we know something, we should not be harmed. When we see someone better than us, we should humble ourselves and learn from them. Thank you QCU for your initiative to share your knowledge to us in Pasig City through the BLeSDS for the OSY project.)

The Executive Course for Barangay Leaders on System Delivery Support for the Out of School Youth, or BLeSDS for the out-of-school youth (OSY) Executive Course, is a six-month executive training online program funded by USAID to assist barangay officials, youth leaders, community organizers, including OSY completers of the Alternative Learning System and courses offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) courses.

Participants to these courses are expected to develop detailed programs that respond to the needs of Pasigueños who are out-of-school youth. (Pasig City/PIA-NCR)
