DSWD SLP beneficiaries showcase products at Kadiwa ng Pangulo in MIMAROPA

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The provinces of Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro buzzed with activity as they hosted the Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) Para sa Manggagawa in conjunction with the nationwide Labor Day celebrations.

This event showcased the achievements of beneficiaries from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), who have successfully sold products amounting to a total of P38,131.00.

The KNP initiative, designed to bridge local producers directly with consumers, thereby ensuring fair prices for both, featured a rich array of goods ranging from fresh vegetables and fruits to dried fish, raw honey, and intricate handicrafts.

This initiative has not only helped in boosting the local economy but also highlighted the diverse agricultural and artisan skills present in the region.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), along with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Office of the Provincial Agriculture, and local government units, pooled their resources to ensure the success of these markets, aiming to provide maximum visibility and profit opportunities for local producers.

The participation of the SLP beneficiaries in such events is part of a broader strategy to enhance their economic stability and foster entrepreneurial spirit among communities that are often marginalized.

The program aims to equip individuals with the necessary skills and resources to start and sustain their own livelihoods.

Local government officials expressed their support for these initiatives and committed to continuing their partnership with national agencies to further empower the local communities. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA)
