Malabon invites public to fun-filled 'Indakan' Festival

MANILA, (PIA) -- Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval is inviting the public to enjoy a fun-filled day at the annual Indakan Festival on Saturday, May 11.

"Bilang parte ng pagdiriwang natin ng Tambobong Festival at 425th Founding Anniversary ng Malabon, idaraos natin ang Indakan Festival bukas, May 11, 2024. Samahan niyo kami sa isang araw na puno ng saya," Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said on her Facebook page.

(As part of our celebration of the Tambobong Festival and the 425th Founding Anniversary of Malabon, we will be holding the Indakan Festival tomorrow, May 11, 2024. Join us for a fun-filled day.)

The city government also issued a traffic advisory on Friday for motorists attending the Indakan Festival.

Road closures and rerouting will begin at 6:00 am, affecting a stretch of General Luna Street, the local government said.

Vehicles traveling from the town proper to Concepcion or Hulong Duhat are advised to use Sanciangco Street, turn left on Governor Pascual Avenue, and then right onto A. Reyes Street towards Dampalit. All passenger jeeps can utilize Sanciangco Street during the event.

Motorists heading to Hulong Duhat or Tanza in Navotas should take A. Reyes Street towards Dampalit.

The advisory coincides with the Tambobong Indakan Festival, which kicks off with a parade at 6:00 am, followed by the Street Dance Salvo competition at the Malabon Sports Center.

Indakan Festival is the city’s annual street dance competition in line with the 425th Malabon Founding Anniversary. (PIA-NCR)
