Presidential Adviser Larry Gadon sees a “promising 2024” in his poverty alleviation campaign

MANILA -- The Office of the Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation (OPAPA) stressed its commitment to support the poverty alleviation program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in line with the administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign.

Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation Atty. Larry Gadon said the OPAPA has outlined plans to support President Marcos in his poverty alleviation program and projects.

Gadon said the OPAPA will ensure the enhanced implementation of food programs for school children in critical areas and collaborate with government agencies to create new and improve existing programs, projects and activities for vulnerable sectors.

The OPAPA will also work with international businesses to generate sustainable job opportunities in the Philippines; support Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) with grants, affordable loans, and workforce upskilling to prompt job creation and economic development, he said.

Gadon also vowed to focus on attracting foreign investors for Public-Private Partnership (PPP), infrastructure projects, ensuring sustainable development and contributing to the goal of “halving poverty incidence by the end of the Marcos administration’s term.”

In 2023, the OPAPA initiated poverty reduction programs in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency(NICA), Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The OPAPA also coordinated with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) as part of its poverty alleviation programs. (PND)
