The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office of Occidental Mindoro is undertaking the nationwide Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the second visit of 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) across the province. The field data collection started on January 10 and will end on January 31.

The LFS gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the members of the household. The LFS is the major source of data for labor force, employment, unemployment, and underemployment, which aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.

Meanwhile, FIES is the main source of data on family income and expenditure. This survey provides statistics that are needed in the different aspects of the country’s economic conditions such as the measurement of poverty and the levels of living and disparities of different sections of the population and locations.

The PSA Occidental Mindoro enjoins the 1,608 sample households in the province to support this move by providing truthful and complete necessary information. The sample households will be interviewed by professional statistical researchers who are under contract with the PSA.

The researchers will ask questions about the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of each member of the sample household as well as the income and expenditure of the families.
