Ozamiz City barangay nutrition scholars receive 2023 allowance from NNC

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- Recognizing the dedication of the barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) of Ozamiz City, City Nutrition Action Officer Lelita G. Navarez accepted the 2023 BNS allowance from the National Nutrition Council (NNC) through National Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez at the city hall.

The BNS Allowance, a vital support system for these grassroots nutrition advocates, is part of the national government's commitment to promoting health and well-being at the community level. The financial assistance is aimed at empowering the barangay nutrition scholars in their crucial role of educating and mobilizing communities towards better nutritional practices.

Expressing her gratitude, City Nutrition Action Officer Lelita G. Navarez emphasized the importance of the allowance in sustaining the efforts of the barangay nutrition scholars.

"This allowance is not just financial support; it is a recognition of the invaluable service our BNS provides to the community. Their dedication to improving nutrition at the grassroots level is truly commendable," said Navarez.

Aside from the funds allocated by the NNC, the local government of Ozamiz City, led by Mayor Lawyer Indy Oaminal, has allocated additional resources to further bolster the BNS program.

LGU Ozamiz expressed a commitment to prioritizing health and nutrition initiatives in the city.

They recognize the significant impact the BNS has on promoting a healthier community. By providing additional funds, LGU Ozamiz aims to strengthen their initiatives and contribute to the overall well-being of the residents.

The substantial financial support from both the national and local governments underscores a concerted effort to address nutritional challenges at the grassroots level. The funds will be instrumental in conducting training programs, awareness campaigns, and other activities to enhance the capabilities of the BNS and promote healthier lifestyles within Ozamiz City.

The BNS allowance not only serves as a lifeline for the BNS but also highlights the importance of community-driven nutrition initiatives in building a healthier and more resilient society. (OZamiz LGU/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
