New legislative building soon to rise in Lanao del Norte

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- Heralding continued progress towards advancing governance and infrastructural development in the province, Vice Governor Allan J. Lim led the groundbreaking rites to signal the start of the construction of the forthcoming legislative building of the provincial government.

The planned two-story building worth P50 million is set to rise at the Provincial Capitol Compound, at the back of the Old Capitol Building, by the year 2025. It will serve as the premier hub for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members and the Vice Governor, featuring state-of-the-art facilities such as a lounge, session hall, conference room, and the Office of Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Lim expressed profound gratitude to Governor Imelda 'Angging' Quibranza-Dimaporo for her unwavering commitment and for setting aside funds for the new legislative center that will shape the political and administrative landscape of the province.

"The Governor is happy with the performance of the SP, which is why she really wanted this legislative building to be erected as early as possible before the end of her term. This is her legacy," she said.

The provincial government's department heads, under the direction of Provincial Administrator and Legal Officer Mark Christopher Babor, were also present during the groundbreaking ceremony to demonstrate their collective support for the SP.

"Hopefully it will come to fruition within the term of Governor Angging because ito po ang kanyang [this is her] vision for us. Gusto nya maging one-stop-shop ang ating probinsya para sa mga constituents natin, [She wants this to become a one-stop-shop of the province for our constituents]," she said.

According to the SP members, the legislative building is not merely a structure but the realization of their shared dream for transformative governance in the province.

"Lipay kaayo ko na sa atoang term, karon gi-construct ang mao nga legislative building. Bisan pag wala na ta, dili na ta board member, naa gihapon ang monumento na atong himuon, ang legislative building. Kung kinsa ang musunod nato, ilang mahinumduman na it is during our term that this legislative building was constructed [I am very happy that during our current term, the legislative building is being constructed. Even if we are no longer board members in the future, the monument that we will create, the legislative building, will remain. Whoever succeeds us will be reminded that it was during our term that this legislative building was constructed]," 1st District Board Member Lawyer Eleuterio Obial Jr. said.

Moreover, 2nd District Board Member Maria Christina Atay highlighted the forthcoming building's potential as a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the SP, witnessing their sacrifices to bolster the programs and initiatives in the province. PIO LDN/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
