MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The province of Misamis Occidental, under the leadership of Governor Henry S. Oaminal, together with the Department of Education (DepEd), has geared up for the 1st One Asenso MisOcc Provincial Athletic Association Palaro (Games) 2024 on February 7–11, in Tangub City.
This much-awaited event is expected to draw more than 2,000 young athletes, coaches, technical officials, heads of athletic delegations, division personnel, and local government officials from across the province.
The opening ceremony and parade alone are expected to be a grand spectacle. Governor Henry Oaminal's vision is to establish Misamis Occidental as a dominant force in the regional, national, and international sports arenas.
"It is our desire that Misamis Occidental will have its glory in the hall of champions in the Palarong Pambansa and represent the province in the international arena of sporting events. Misamis Occidental must unite as one strong delegation and come out as One Asenso Misamis Occidental Team," said Governor Henry Oaminal during the 1st Committee Meeting of the ASENSO Provincial Meet Executive Committee.
Oaminal emphasized that a robust provincial sports program would not only create top-notch athletes but also inspire the younger generation to strive for excellence in all aspects of life.
Mayor Ben Canama, as the host city, has assured that Tangub City is fully prepared to welcome the provincial sports council, athletes, and coaches, ensuring that they have an unforgettable experience.
The participants will compete in a wide range of sports such as basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, athletics, swimming, archery, boxing, wrestling, taekwondo, wushu, pencak silat, table tennis, badminton, chess, arnis, gymnastics, and dance sports. The winners will receive medals and cash prizes, and the athletes will be accommodated in ten different schools in Tangub City.
The winners of the Palaro 2024 will represent the One Asenso MisOcc Team at the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association Meet (NMRAA) in Camiguin in May of the same year.
