64 jobseekers hired on-the-spot at Sablayan Job Fair 2024

In a remarkable opportunity to address unemployment and boost economic prosperity, 64 jobseekers are now on their way to wage employment as they were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during the 2024 Job Fair organized by the Local Government Unit of Sablayan on January 26, 2024 at Siburan Hall, 3rd Floor, Municipal Building, Brgy. Buenavista, Sablayan.

Four (4) applicants hired locally will start their careers as production operators in Batangas. On the other hand, 60 HOTS to be deployed overseas will be cleaners, skilled workers, and household service workers.

Ten (10) local and overseas employers, offering around 2,000 vacancies, participated in the job fair. Employers include Lead Resources Management Corporation, Star World International Manpower and Placement Agency, 1st Northern International Placement, Inc., Age International Gulf Employment Corporation, Philcangco International Recruitment Services Inc., God’s Will International Placement, Inc., Hopewell Overseas Manpower Network, Inc., and STB-DJL Human Link, Inc., Connectional Overseas Employment Agency and PKIMT.

A total of 403 job applicants attended the event, with 30 near-hires being required to provide additional requirements and scheduled for further interviews.

During the opening ceremony, Sablayan PESO Manager Ms. Elonah Jean O. Alegre, expressed her gratitude to the participating employers and congratulated all the jobseekers. She encouraged them to make the most out of this opportunity. She highlighted that what made this event unique was the chance for job seekers to undergo interviews and receive job offers on the spot. This innovative approach not only expedited the hiring process but also provided immediate relief for individuals seeking employment.

DOLE Occidental Mindoro Provincial Office Head Mr. Peter James D. Cortazar, encouraged both employers and job seekers to approach the event with enthusiasm and confidence. He emphasized that “Job fairs offer opportunities for new partnerships to be formed and for job seekers to showcase their skills and qualifications”. Mr. Cortazar also urged the attendees to seize the moment with courage and conviction and to never lose sight of the bright future that awaits them.

Also joined the event are Department of Migrant Workers’ Undersecretary Patricia Yvonne Cunanan, DOLE OccMin’s unit head of Employment Facilitation Jessa G. Benoza, and Clerk II Catherine R. Bautista.

The conduct of the Job Fair activity is part of the DOLE’s employment facilitation strategy, in partnership with LGU Sablayan which aims to fast-track the meeting of its local jobseekers and the participating employers and overseas recruitment agencies in one venue to reduce the cost, time, and effort on the part of the applicants.
