Indonesian Consulate explores economic prospects, partnerships with BARMM

MARAWI CITY—The Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City met with the officials of the Bangsamoro Board of Investments (BBOI) on February 5 in Cotabato City to explore potential investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Charges d’affaires of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City Harya Sidharta, led the delegation, accompanied by Economic Consul or Chief Chancellor Novita Supit.

While the goal of the visit was not only to strengthen bilateral ties but also to lay the groundwork for mutually beneficial ventures that could spur economic growth in the region, it aimed to create a lasting impact on the economic landscape, promoting trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the two entities.

The Consulate General mentioned, “The Indonesian embassy in Davao City continues to nurture strong and enduring partnerships in the Southeast Asian region.”

Discussions resulted in a shared commitment from Indonesia and the Bangsamoro region to strengthen meaningful economic ties and partnerships.

BBOI Chairperson Mohamad Pasigan went beyond mere diplomatic formalities to showcase the potential investment opportunities within the BARMM.

He said there was an exchange of valuable insights into the economic landscape of BARMM. It highlighted sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing, among others, as key sectors for potential collaboration.

“This valuable exchange of ideas and information is a step toward realizing the shared vision of a future prosperous and mutually beneficial economic relationship,” he added. (BIO/PIA Lanao del Sur)
