PSA convenes the CBMS coordinating boards in Oriental Mindoro

The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Oriental Mindoro, under the leadership of  supervising statistical specialist and officer-in-charge Donna Marie D. Mobe successfully convened all the city/municipal CBMS Coordinating Boards (C/MCCB) for the roll-out of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in the province this year.

The collaborative efforts of PSA Oriental Mindoro and PSO personnel headed by the provincial focal person Herchie T. Davalos, together with statistical specialists Jeile G. Ornedo, Maria Clarisse Quitain, Mary Joy H. Dudas, statistical analyst Daniel A. Paquit, Jorynne Mae P. De Mesa, and information analyst Shiela Jane Dudas made the achievement of this coordination.

Each board is composed of the city/municipal Mayor or designated representative as the chairperson, PSA-PSO representative Herchie T. Davalos as the co-chairperson, local government unit (LGU) CBMS focal person or the city/municipal statistician as the secretary, and heads of the designated representatives of various offices within the city/municipal local gov't as members.

The CBMS is a nationwide undertaking that requires cooperation of all government entities to ensure smooth flow of operations at all geographic and administrative levels.

It plays a vital role in assessing the parameters of conducting the overall CBMS activities as members of the coordinating boards and shall be responsible for overseeing the operations in their respective localities, ensuring logistical and other requirements are in place, and resolving issues and concerns encountered within their jurisdiction.

The commitment shown by all the LGUs was evident in the outcome of the convening as their full support and cooperation, recognition and dedication to gather accurate, timely, relevant, and reliable data were given to PSA during meetings. This activity likewise showed each LGU’s commitment to good governance, enhanced transparency, and the advancement of all communities particularly Indigenous People (IPs) communities within the province.
