CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- Region 10 beams with pride for its national awardees for 2023, where Cagayan de Oro City is the lone recipient of the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest award on nutrition given to a local government unit, while Sherill Faith P. Española of Cagayan de Oro City wins the National Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) title during the 2023 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (NNAC) held at the Manila Hotel.
Sumilao, Bukidnon, also secured the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) award, while Hazel P. Dondonayos, Valencia City Nutrition Action Officer, and Loidaliza C. Vizcayno, Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City, are finalists and contenders, respectively, for their corresponding categories.
The NHA title is accorded to Cagayan de Oro City for having achieved increasing scores for six consecutive years based on regional and national level validation visits. Cagayan de Oro City receives the NHA trophy and a P1 million cash prize.
On the other hand, Sumilao, after being named the most outstanding municipality in three consecutive years in the region, will continue to vie for the NHA title for three more years as a CROWN awardee. Sumilao receives the CROWN award and P500,000 cash prize during the NNAC.
It is a double celebration for Cagayan de Oro as Española is named the National Outstanding CNPC, besting all contenders from other regions nationwide. The NNC awards CNPC Espaola a medal and cash prize as a national awardee.
CNAO Dondonayos is also recognized as one of the finalists in the search for the National Outstanding C/MNAO category, while BNS Vizcayno is named a contender for the search for National Outstanding BNS.
The awardees were evaluated from May to October 2024 based on their performance for CY 2022.
Aside from honoring the LGUs and local nutrition focal point awardees, the NNAC also serves as an inspiration to other LGUs and nutrition workers that they can be triumphant in their nutrition journey. (NNC-10/PIA-10)
