DOLE MisOcc delivers livelihood services for child laborer parents, coastal group

ALORAN, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- A total of P250,000 worth of the Department of Labor and Employment’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) was turned over to the 29 parents of child laborers (PCLs) of Barangay Lobogon, Aloran, on February 1, here.

DOLE-10 Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office Chief Ebba B. Acosta said the livelihood grant helped the beneficiaries boost their livelihood projects, which they aimed to be premier distributors and retailers of rice in their barangay and surrounding areas as it is difficult for the residents to acquire their daily needs.

Acosta said the DILP recipients received a rice trading project through Barangay Lobogon’s Local Government Unit (BLGU) Chairperson Carmelo Y. Tejano as the project’s accredited co-partner. Acosta encouraged the beneficiaries to effectively manage their livelihood projects for them to sustain and augment their financial stability.

Meanwhile, 38 members of the Panalsalan Coastal Livelihood Association augmented their incomes from the DOLE P250,000 worth of Poultry Raising Project on February 1, in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental.

DOLE-10 Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office Chief Ebba Acosta said the member beneficiaries were not only employed but also assured of financial empowerment through sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic growth of the community.

The grant was awarded through the Accredited Co-Partner Paglaum Community Development Foundation, Inc. Moreover, Acosta said the poultry farm is located in Purok Toril of the said barangay, which is far from the coasts, where the recipients reside.

Alongside the poultry project is also a mini garden of vegetables where poultry wastes will be used as fertilizers, making the projects not only economically beneficial but also environment-friendly.

In support was Plaridel Municipal Mayor Gadwin F. Handumon, in gratitude to the Department’s DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program for improving the economic situation of his constituents. (DOLE Misamis Occidental/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
