MisOcc, DSWD pour P8.8-M aid to 34 associations

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local chief executives, recently provided P8.8 million worth of livelihood assistance to 34 association representatives in Misamis Occidental.

The livelihood grant is intended to boost the livelihood activities of the associations in the province and provide them with the necessary support to help them become productive citizens of society.

This program offers an incredible opportunity for individuals who wish to expand their existing enterprises and make a positive impact on their community. By taking advantage of this chance, they can explore new avenues for growth and development, which could lead to increased profitability, greater market reach, and more job opportunities for residents.

The ceremony was held at Function Hall 1 in Tangub City, and each organization with 10–30 members received a start-up capital ranging from P100,000 to P300,000.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal reminded the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and make the most of the Sustainable Livelihood Program, which can sustain their livelihood and improve their lives.

“Swerte mo kay sa kadaghan organizations, karon kamo maoy nahimong beneficiary niining maong programa. Atong gamiton ang maong pundo sa maong katuyoan kay ang sustainable livelihood program, kini usa ka programa nga makasustinar sa panginabuhi, ilabina ninyo mga beneficiaries. Usa kini ka programa nga nahimong instrumento sa usa ka area nga magpuyong malambuon,’’ he said.

[You are lucky because, among the numerous organizations today, you are the beneficiary of this program. I hope that we use the fund for its purpose because the sustainable livelihood program is a program that can sustain livelihoods, especially for you, the beneficiaries. This is a program that has become instrumental for people to live in prosperity.]

Oaminal has ordered the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) officer to establish a division for the growth of their businesses in that project, and he has also promised to double the assistance from the province.

DSWD-10 Assistant Regional Director for Operation Ronald Ryan Cui expressed his hope that the beneficiaries of the SLP would take care of their grant and use it for the intended purpose.

“Ang association gitagaan og capital para ma-improve ang inyong panginabuhian. I hope himuon ninyo ang inyong mga role ug gamiton nato sa unsa’y purpose ug sakto nga gamitan ani. Palamboa ninyo ni kay linya usab kini sa vision sa Asenso MisOcc nga ang mga Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon," he said.

[The association has given you capital to improve your livelihood. I hope you will do your role, and let's use it for its purpose and use it correctly. Please develop this as it is also in line with the vision of Asenso MisOcc that the Misamisnon will live peacefully, prosperously, and happily.]

He said it will also provide the necessary technical assistance to the 34 associations that benefited the 661 beneficiaries, helping them develop their livelihood projects.

This program is a testament to the government's commitment to uplifting the lives of the people in the province and providing them with all the assistance they need.
