Agencies join PhilHealth in group enrollment program for employee well-being

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) --  To celebrate the 29th anniversary of PhilHealth, four government agencies in the region have affirmed their commitment to providing comprehensive health care to their Filipino employees through the Group Enrollment Program.

Regional heads and representatives from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), along with PhilHealth's staff and employees, signed the memorandum of agreement on the Group Enrollment Program at SM Downtown on February 14.

[These agencies of ours have improved that as co-workers, although they have not yet obtained the official position, they are not exempted when they get sick and go to the hospital. With their help, we know that if they are not at work, our operations will be crippled. Giving PhilHealth benefits to them as JOs [job orders] or casual workers is not an obstacle; everyone belongs to Philhealth]

The Presidential Proclamation No. 1400, Series of 2007, highlights the vital function of social health insurance, which paved the way for the National Health Insurance Program, ensuring that every Filipino is entitled to health insurance benefits. PhilHealth, as the head of this program, has been constant in its dedication to providing accessible and quality healthcare for all.

The Group Enrollment Program stands as a testament to PhilHealth's proactive approach to employee welfare. It goes beyond the conventional boundaries of employment, recognizing the value of every individual in the workforce. The initiative not only acknowledges the contributions of job-order workers and casual employees but also takes a step further in promoting the overall welfare of the workforce.

Aseron said this is an  initiative that goes beyond the conventional norms of employer-employee relationships. He added that this commitment becomes especially apparent when employees face health challenges. The provision of PhilHealth benefits ensures that even in times of illness and hospitalization, casual or job order workers are not left unsupported. (PACR/PIA-10)
