DSWD-10 supports Project LAWA at BINHI

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- The Project LAWA at BINHI, or the Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished of the Risk Resiliency Program through cash-for-training and work, a newly-launched project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Disaster Response Management Group, receives ultimate support from DSWD Field Office (FO)-10.

To help mitigate the ill effects of the El Niño phenomenon, strengthen the adaptive capabilities of those economically disadvantaged and vulnerable families during the period of severe drought, and ultimately mitigate the impact of food insecurity and water scarcity caused by El Nińo, FO 10 will undertake relevant programs and services that benefit the local community.

A risk resilience program through cash-for-training and work will be implemented in the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte, such as the repair and rehabilitation of local water systems, the construction of small water reservoirs, aquaculture projects, and communal/urban gardening.

Participating local government units commit to working collaboratively to properly implement the programs and services in their locality. (DSWD-10/PIA-10)
